Daughters of Penelope

Hestia Chapter #416

Happy New Year!

In lieu of a December Meeting the Daughters of Penelope (DOP) joined the Philoptochos members for fellowship at Sammios in Hope Mills. We were joined by Father Alex and His Grace Bishop Sevastianos of Zelon. It was a wonderful lunch filled with laughter, Christmas Carols and great conversations with friends.

We are gearing up for our silent auction that is held in conjunction with Athenian Night. This year the event will be February 9, 2019. Tickets can be purchased through an AHEPA member. Also, if anyone would like to donate any items for the auction please see a DOP member. We hope to see everyone there for a wonderful evening of food, music and fellowship.

The DOP’s first annual raffle is beginning to take shape. More information will be available in February.

High School Seniors, The Maria Constas Service Award application is now available! This service award was created in honor of Sister Maria Constas who was dedicated to helping others. She was selfless with her time and chaired or served on many boards and committees dedicated to helping others. The award will go to a deserving high school senior who demonstrates a commitment to their faith and community, as Mrs. Constas did. We look forward to seeing how you make an impact our community. All submissions must be emailed or postmarked by February 28, 2019. (Mailing info is on the application)

We are always looking to grow our sisterhood. If you are interested in becoming a member or learning more about our organization please see Sister Irene Bantsolas.

Next meeting: January 21, 2019
